Iraq: Rockets strike air base in Salahudin province, leave 2 injured

(MENAFN) The Iraqi military stated, on Sunday, Apr. 18 five rockets hit an Iraqi military air base in the country's Salahudin province north of capital Baghdad, injuring two security members. The rockets were launched from al-Dojama, a locality found across the Tigris River in the neighboring Diyala province, and settled on the Balad Air Base, around 90 km north of capital, noted a report by the media office of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC). The JOC report said that due to the assault, two members of an Iraqi force charged with defending the base were injured. The JOC stated: "these heinous acts targeting our military installations will face a firm response," cautioning that such assault "is considered a terrorist act."
