U.S. Customs and Border Protection data obtained by The Post shows authorities took more than 1.7 million migrants into custody near the U.S.-Mexico border during the 2021 fiscal year. That leaves the Biden administration in an awkward position as it increasingly relies on Mexico to tighten enforcement.
