Cyclone Michaung pummelled Chennai, causing heavy rain and flooding. The cyclone dumped 400 to 500mm of rain, surpassing the 330mm received during the Chennai deluge in 2015. Thoroughfares like Anna Salai and residential areas were turned into waterways. Four deaths were reported, including two workers trapped in Velachery. The cyclone is expected to make landfall on the Andhra coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam. Flight and train services were disrupted, with over 100 trains cancelled in Chennai.
