Cyclone Michaung fourth December cyclone to hit Andhra Pradesh coast

Nearly 60 cyclones crossed the coast of Andhra Pradesh in the last five decades, with about 40 forming in October and November. Severe cyclonic storm Michaung is expected to cross the south AP coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam. It will become the fourth December cyclone to make landfall in AP. The other three December cyclones that hit AP include storms near Sriharikota in 1985, Machilipatnam in 2003, and East Godavari in 2018. The losses caused by the three December storms amounted to over 1,000 crore.
