*DAYTONA, FL / ACCESSWIRE / March 21, 2022 / *This year, the second annual Marc Zboch Academic Scholarship has been awarded to second-year graduate student Lorenzo Cinalli of the George Washington University.

Cinalli is studying for his Master of Arts degree in Environmental Resource Management. While he has been involved in the community in many ways, he is most interested in helping communities with disaster planning.

Lorenzo Cinalli has witnessed the aftermath of major storms like Hurricane Michael in the Florida Panhandle, and he is dedicated to helping make sure that people who are facing natural disasters in the future do not have to live in distressing conditions.

Cinalli wrote, "I am pursuing my degree in environmental resource policy in part because I want to improve our disaster preparedness to ensure that no one has to be subjected to such conditions again."

To be considered for the Marc Zboch Academic Scholarship this year, qualified students were asked to write a 400- to 500-word essay detailing a meaningful experience where they helped others. Cinalli wrote about his extensive experiences with the aftermath of Hurricane Michael as well as his volunteer experience in other areas including the National Park Service and the Seattle Aquarium.

Cinalli's volunteer experiences are exemplary, and future scholarship applicants should reflect on their personal feelings when they want to be considered for Marc Zboch's $1,000 award.

*How to Apply in 2023*
The scholarship has already been awarded for the 2022-23 academic year, but students may now apply for 2023. In order to be eligible, students must be enrolled in a qualified U.S. college or university. They must also be U.S. residents.

The Marc Zboch scholarship is intended for students in all fields of study. Rather than restricting the scholarship to certain majors, Zboch has decided to open it to students from all academic backgrounds in hopes of finding new and exciting ideas to improve the world.

Students may apply regardless of their financial need or academic standing. Since the application process is largely determined by the required 400- to 500-word essay, it is not necessary to sort students by need or prior academic achievements.

Next year's essay prompt is "Describe a time when you made sacrifices to help others."
