The Eddie is the premier event in the sport of surfing—the “Super Bowl of Surfing”—which honors the late Eddie Aikau, a famed Hawaiian lifeguard and surfer who was lost at sea while attempting to rescue the crew of a Polynesian voyaging canoe.
