POLICE OFFICER RELEASING RESCUED WALLABY INTO FOREST STORY: Police officers rescued a little wallaby from drowning off Australia's east coast.

Footage posted by the Queensland Police shows the wallaby paddling more than six kilometres out to sea near North Stradbroke Island.

"On the morning of Wednesday, January 29, Water Police Brisbane received a call from a member of the public stating they had located a wallaby in distress out at sea," the police wrote in the statement.

The rescued wallaby was dried off and released into the forest on North Stradbroke Island.
