On June 6, 1944, the much anticipated Allied invasion of German-occupied France commenced with air & sea landings along the Normandy coastline.

At least 4,000 Allied soldiers were killed, inflicting equal if not more German fatalities before the first day of Allied Liberation of France had concluded.

Today we reflect upon the most important amphibious assault in world history.
