The Kremlin has dismissed fears of a renewed wave of violence in Russia’s North Caucasus region after a series of coordinated attacks in Dagestan left at least 20 dead and 26 injured.
The attacks, which targeted churches, synagogues, and police checkpoints, echo the insurgent violence of the 1990s and 2000s.
Authorities have concluded an anti-terror operation, killing five assailants and continuing to investigate the involvement of other suspects.
