The new Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet - Open-Air fun meets performance

AutoMotions

The new CLE 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet now joins the SL Roadster as the second model from Mercedes-AMG for open-top driving fun. With its extensive standard equipment, spacious interior and comfort features including AIRCAP® or AIRSCARF®, the four-seater is fully suitable for year-round driving. The 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine with twin turbocharging has an output of 330 kW (449 hp) thanks to its exhaust turbocharger and additional electric compressor. The engine has a maximum torque of 560 Nm (600 Nm in overboost for up to 10 seconds). The integrated starter generator briefly provides an additional 17 kW (23 hp) of boost power and 205 Nm of torque. It also feeds the 48-volt electrical system. Other technical features of the new model include the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission, fully variable all-wheel drive AMG Performance 4MATIC+ and active rear-axle steering. Numerous AMG-specific features make the car’s body design stand out. AMG’s signature A-shaped radiator grille and the sharp, slender lines of the full-LED headlights create a look that is characteristic of the brand. DIGITAL LIGHT headlights with and without projection function are available as optional equipment. They feature daytime running light ellipses and blue illumination at the base of the headlights, which further enhances the car’s dynamic appearance. The striking front skirt rises in the centre to form an A-shape (‘A-Wing’) that accommodates a large air intake for increased air flow. The same applies to the outer air intakes with two horizontal fins. Elegantly formed edges add structure to the profile. Meanwhile, flared front and rear wheel arches, a wide track (+58 millimetres at the front, +75 millimetres at the rear compared to the Mercedes-Benz model) and 19-inch wheels lend the new AMG Cabriolet a powerful appearance. Optional 20-inch wheels are also available.

Vespa World days - Day 2 part 2

AutoMotions

After the opening ceremony, the Vespa World Days 2024 in Pontedera are fully underway but even today, on the second of the four days of the scheduled festival, an incredible number of Vespisti are still arriving in Vespa’s native city from all over Europe, joining the thousands of enthusiasts who had already arrived over the past few days. As we await the final numbers, the 2024 edition of the Vespa World Days already promises to be one of the biggest Vespa events ever. For the first time, the annual rally for all the national Vespa Clubs from all over the world is being held precisely where Vespa was born and where it has been manufactured non-stop since 1946. A truly special edition, also because it celebrates 140 years of Piaggio, the company founded in 1884, where representatives have already arrived from Australian and South American clubs, as well as from the USA and China and, obviously, from every European nation. The anticipation of the Vespisti and all the guests is steadily growing for the great Vespa Parade, the procession of all the Vespas participating in the rally scheduled for tomorrow where thousands of Vespas and Vespisti will be riding through the Valdera. Among the enthusiasts departing at 11:00 AM from Viale Italia in Pontedera, will also be TV host Rudy Zerbi. There was a small taste of the parade today, with the various tours which took the Vespisti on a true Tuscany Experience to discover spectacular routes to such places as Pisa and Volterra, a long line of Vespas, led by the special GTS 300 delivered yesterday to the State Police, which will also be a protagonist in the Parade tomorrow. Besides the big parade, the highlight of the day tomorrow will be in the Vespa Village with the Concours d’Elegance, an opportunity participants will not want to miss to see some of the most beautiful and rarest Vespas accompanied by the elegance of riders and passengers.

Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Design Preview in desert sand

AutoMotions

With the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, the brand with the three-pointed star presents the first fully electric variant of its off-road icon. It symbolises the fusion of tradition and progress like no other. The all-new electric G-Class remains true to the model’s character, retaining its angular silhouette including all iconic elements. Like the conventionally powered variants, its body is built on a ladder frame. The development team has modified and reinforced this to integrate the electric drive. Also retained is the combination of independent front suspension with double wishbones and newly developed rigid rear axle. The high-voltage lithium-ion battery integrated into the ladder frame ensures a low centre of gravity. With its usable capacity of 116 kWh, it provides sufficient energy for ranges of up to 473 kilometres according to WLTP. The four individually controlled electric motors located near the wheels develop a maximum total output of 432 kW. Together with the selectable LOW RANGE off-road gear reduction, they enable unique driving characteristics and exclusive functions. This allows G-TURN to turn the vehicle almost on the spot on loose or unpaved surfaces. The G-STEERING function can deliver a significantly smaller turning circle when driving off-road. The three-speed intelligent off-road crawl function is like cruise control for off-roading – maintaining optimum propulsion while the driver focuses on navigating the terrain. Like the tried-and-tested variants, the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology has a gradeability of up to 100% on suitable surfaces. The vehicle remains stable on sideways slopes of up to 35 degrees. With a maximum fording depth of 850 millimetres, the electric G‑Class outperforms its conventionally powered counterparts by 150 millimetres. The LOW RANGE off-road gearing increases propulsion with a special reduction ratio. The all-new model generates the function of conventional differential locks virtually using intelligent torque vectoring. G-ROAR brings a unique sound experience to the all-new electric G-Class. In addition to a characteristic, G-Class-specific driving sound, it includes one “aura” sound and a variety of “event” sounds.

The new CUPRA Formentor - Exterior Design

The vehicle’s aesthetic and overall package that helped it win the Red Dot Award for Product Design 2021 have been accentuated and amplified, delivering an emotional, striking, and sporty visual. The new CUPRA Formentor introduces the new CUPRA design language DNA, with the shark-nose front end, triangular matrix LED headlights and big, bold lower mouth. The grille mesh is open to deliver both form and function, a necessity in a performance car. As the eye shifts to the side design details, the new CUPRA Formentor’s athletic proportions and character becomes even more evident. Its dynamic, well-balanced volume sits on the proportionally sized wheels – there are a range of eight different alloy wheels between 18 and 19’’. Two side blisters add a feeling of movement, and the deeply shaped sections of the body add to the sensual sculpture of the new CUPRA Formentor. The increased sportiness of the high-performance Crossover SUV is enhanced further by the side mouldings and their relationship with the range of colours available.

The new Porsche Macan 4 Design Preview in Copper Ruby Metallic

AutoMotions

It’s all down to this line, a mere stroke on paper. And yet it marks a a new beginning. The coupé-like roofline of the Macan and the striking rear—with its shape so typical of Porsche—evoke the tight, unmistakable flyline of the 911. But this time, it’s not just a reminder of the Porsche icon. Rather, the shape, including the rear spoiler, is a groundbreaking innovation in the all-electric SUV segment. “The active aerodynamic elements all contribute significantly to the range,” says aerodynamics specialist Thomas Wiegand. “We have a rear spoiler that raises automatically, active cooling flaps at the front air intakes, and flexible covers on the underbody.” Located in the same building as the Style Porsche design department, the Weissach wind tunnel gives form and shape to the streamlining of the newly developed Macan. It’s the first Porsche based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) created in collaboration with Audi. This platform not only benefits from development synergies, but is also highly flexible, enabling Porsche to implement its own technical and brand-specific objectives. Full electrification of the popular model line is an important milestone on the path to ensuring that more than 80 percent of the new cars are fully electrified in 2030—depending on the demand of customers and the development of electromobility in the respective regions of the world.

The all-new Toyota bZ4X SUV has arrived in Australian showrooms, with Toyota’s first BEV introducing a new BEV-specific platform, the latest motor generator and battery technology, and advanced safety and connected technologies. Launching in its latest global specification, the bZ4X draws on more than a quarter of a century of Toyota leadership in hybrid vehicles. The bZ4X represents another important step in the multi-pathway approach to electrification that includes a range of technologies The bZ4X is the first Toyota to use the new BEV-dedicated e-TNGA platform, which has been designed and optimised for a new range of electric vehicles. It integrates the battery and motor generator into the vehicle’s structure, providing extra rigidity and a low centre of gravity for stable driving dynamics. This approach allows the wheels to be pushed further outward to the front and rear, leaving more room for passengers within the vehicle’s footprint. It also offers the versatility of front or all-wheel-drive traction – the latter providing benchmark off-road capability among all-electric SUVs. The e-TNGA platform gave designers the freedom to create an innovative BEV that embodies the inherent appeal of an SUV shape, while achieving impressive aerodynamic efficiency. The front-wheel-drive (FWD) bZ4X is equipped with poly-ellipsoidal LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, numerous convenience and safety details, heated side mirrors with auto power folding, power tailgate and privacy glass for rear side, quarter and back windows. This multimedia suite is augmented by the latest Toyota Connected Services online features, including integration with the myToyota Connect smartphone app, which is offered for a complimentary period of 12 months. The bZ4X comes with BEV specific connected features such as charge station locators and charge management functionality within the myToyota Connect smartphone app. Over-the-air updates, cloud navigation and live traffic information are included. The latest Toyota Safety Sense suite integrates a comprehensive array of safety technologies within a BEV structure designed to protect passengers, the battery and other vehicles and pedestrians.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri Cockpit

AutoMotions

The design of the Ferrari 12Cilindri’s interior sees it split into three different levels: the first, dominated by the upper part of the dash, continues around to blend into the door panel trim. Next is the central area while the third includes the footwells and seats. Each level is clearly defined, heightening the dual-cockpit effect through the colour and material combinations. These are used to create either an elegant or sporty look for the seats and other features. Ferrari’s signature luxury and performance are flanked on the Ferrari 12Cilindri by a focus on environmental sustainability: extensive use has been made of sustainable materials such as Alcantara© containing 65% recycled polyester. The interior style takes its inspiration from the Prancing Horse’s dual-cockpit architecture. In recent years, that layout was used for the Ferrari Roma and Roma Spider as well as the Ferrari Purosangue. The Ferrari 12Cilindri’s cabin has an almost-symmetrical structure comprising two modules for driver and passenger and offering an astonishing standard of comfort and involvement in the driving experience.

Renault Symbioz A new era in family "voitures à vivre"

AutoMotions

A true ‘voiture à vivre’, Renault 16 was designed to stand apart from the competition. Launched in 1965, it premiered a new body style, with hatchback access to the boot. More versatile than any of its contemporaries, Renault 16 included a bench seat adjustable for a 'holiday travel' position. It met the needs of families looking for a car that suited their lifestyles, while keeping pace with rapid social change. Since then, Renault has continued to innovate with family cars that caught the mood of their times. This was true in the 1980s with Espace, a car that started a revolution with its groundbreaking one-box design and modular layout. In the 1990s, Renault did it again with Scénic, the first compact MPV. Designed to resemble a cocoon, Scénic featured an interior dedicated to passenger well-being. Symbioz shares this same DNA. Able to adapt its boot and passenger compartment to family needs, with useful technologies delivering human added value and compact dimensions that are also ideal for city driving, it joins a long line of versatile ‘voitures à vivre’, reflecting its times. Showcasing Renault's new design language, Symbioz follows on from the recent Scénic E-Tech electric and New Captur.

Mercedes-Benz will pursue a differentiated strategic approach with its vans in the future. As presented last year (2023), the company is aiming for a premium strategy for its commercial vans. In the future, a focused luxury strategy will apply to all newly developed, privately positioned vans, as is the case for all Mercedes‑Benz passenger cars. The aim is to fully implement this strategic change with the introduction of the upcoming modular and scalable Van Electric Architecture – VAN.EA for short – from 2026. The new Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid Infotainment System

AutoMotions

Boasting exceptional driving capabilities while also ensuring reduced CO2 emissions, the new Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid, driven by its innovative 48 Volt hybrid engine, further advances the Jeep brand's trailblazing journey into electrification. The engine powering the new Avenger e-Hybrid represents the highest level of technological achievement, delivering both comfort and performance. With this state-of-the-art technology, the new Avenger e-Hybrid delivers an exceptionally smooth driving experience, enabling fortunate journalists to embrace electric mobility at lower speeds. This is made possible through the integration of the automatic 6-speed e-DCS6 dual-clutch transmission with its integrated electric engine. The route retraces the double soul of the Avenger: at ease both on road and offroad. On the one hand, the on-road route allows the driver to try the hybrid features (energy recovery & electric drive at low speed) and the tech features such as L2 assisted driving. The new Avenger e-Hybrid has been designed to be the first entry point into electrification. It employs a powertrain based on a lightweight 48V Hybrid system capable of delivering a nearly complete hybrid experience. A 100hp internal combustion engine coupled with a 21kw electric motor is then integrated into a double-clutch 6-speed automatic transmission and a 48V Belt Starter for a smooth transition to the electric drive that also produces further CO2 savings. The 0.9 kWh lithium-ion battery is located under the driver's seat, with no impact on the interior space, which remains the same as that of the Avenger petrol. The entire 48V hybrid system weighs only 60 kg more than a conventional automatic transmission. This keeps the total weight of the new Avenger e-Hybrid to just 1280 kg.

Here is the Ferrari SF-24 for Miami

AutoMotions

Ferrari is looking forward to a memorable weekend in Miami, hosting several activities linked to the marque’s tradition and passion for innovation in this its seventieth year on the North American market. The Scuderia will be one of the stars of the show over the Floridian weekend and the cars will sport a special livery celebrating two colours from its past, Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino. These shades of blue were part of daily life in Maranello for many years and are now coming back into play after an absence of around fifty years. The Miami weekend will also provide an amazing backdrop for HP’s debut as the team’s new title partner. The biggest change is the recently announced arrival of HP as title partner for the coming seasons, so that as from this race, the team will be competing in the Grands Prix under the name of Scuderia Ferrari HP. The partnership extends globally beyond Formula 1 and on the racing side it also includes the car that Maya Weug races in Ferrari colours in the F1 Academy, the all-female driver series for the fastest women on the planet, including her Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy colleague, Aurelia Nobels. In fact, the HP partnership also includes support for Maranello’s young driver programme, established in 2009, as well as its Esports team. The dominant colour of the new title partner’s logo is a perfect fit with the theme chosen by the Maranello marque for the week in Miami, namely the return of the two colours from the past, Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino. For this weekend only, these tones will feature on the two SF-24s. The splashes of colour will be used on the wings, the engine cover, the halo, the rear-view mirrors, the race numbers and, in a nod to the past, on the wheel rims, as was the case back in the Sixties, starting with the 158 F1 with which John Surtees clinched the world championship title in North America, sixty years ago. The Miami livery also evokes memories of the single-seaters and sports cars entered by the American Ferrari importer, Luigi Chinetti, under the N.A.R.T. (North American Racing Team) banner, including the aforementioned blue and white 158 F1 driven by Surtees and red Ferraris with dark blue stripes. In fact, blue also featured on the various Ferraris entered in sports cars races in the Sixties by the British importer, Maranello Concessionaires.

This includes the official Vespa stand, where the entire range will be on display, plus merchandise available to buy; elsewhere, a food & beverage area will also give Vespisti and visitors to the event the perfect opportunity to get together, celebrating the spirit of the Vespa clubs. Mazda CX-5 Touring Petrol AWD in Eternal Blue Connect Screen

AutoMotions

Mazda’s iconic “World Car Design of the Year”-winning roadster has evolved over the years, yet always remained true to the Jinba Ittai philosophy of creating perfect harmony between driver and car. The MX-5, a timeless masterpiece – refined by Mazda’s craftsmen over four generations of customer feedback – celebrates its 35th birthday in 2024. With over 1.1 million units sold, the community of MX-5 enthusiasts continues to grow. With the 2024 MX-51 Mazda further reinforces the Jinba Ittai ethos by introducing DSC-Track, a new Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) mode optimised for circuit driving, and a newly developed Asymmetric Limited Slip Differential (Asymmetric LSD). DSC-Track prioritises driver safety by implementing over-steer control in hazardous spins that the driver is unable to correct. DSC-Track allows the driver to remain in control until the very last second, only then it will intervene. The Asymmetric Limited Slip Differential (Asymmetric LSD) stabilises vehicle turn-in behaviour. In particular, bolstering the slip-limiting force during deceleration improves stability when braking into a turn, where reduced rear wheel ground load leads to vehicle instability. Optimizing slip limiting force and preload specifically for the MX-5's engine, suspension, and tyre characteristics results in smoother and more linear turning performance. Turning stability has thus been enhanced to make manoeuvring easier in urban areas, as well as on winding roads. The 2024 Mazda MX-5 features advanced LED headlights that now seamlessly combine with the daytime running lights. Furthermore, the rear lights have undergone subtle revisions, and LEDs are now used also on the turn signals. The exterior changes are complete with a new paint option, """"Aero Grey Metallic"""", which replaces “Platinum Quartz”, and 16- and 17-inch wheel designs. Enhancements for 2024 also extend to the interior, which gains a redesigned 8.8-inch centre display with Android Auto™ and Apple Car Play® running wirelessly, a frameless rear-mirror and a suede-like seat material called Leganu®.

Audi Q6L e-tron Design in Studio

AutoMotions

The electrically powered car will be shown as an exterior model at the spring motor show in the Chinese capital; the series version will then make its public debut in the fourth quarter of 2024. Like other PPE models for the Chinese market, the Audi Q6L e-tron will be locally produced in a new factory in Changchun. The first deliveries to customers will take place in 2025. The Audi Q6L e-tron is defined by impressive driving and charging performance, excellent efficiency, and an even greater range than the global model. The wheelbase, longer by 105 millimeters, also allows the installation of a larger battery. With it, CLTC ranges of more than 700 kilometers will be possible. The letter “L” in the name signals the long wheelbase, which is also becoming the hallmark of outstanding long-distance capability. Audi has been building “L” models with an extended wheelbase for the Chinese market for decades. The A6L and A4L are the best-known large-volume versions, alongside the Q5L, A8L, and A8L Horch. Now, Audi is adding the L model to the Q6 e-tron family - providing even more space, comfort, and everyday usability. Together with the new interior design philosophy, the Q6L e-tron is creating a very exclusive and generous space for passengers in the market. The Audi Q6L e-tron epitomizes Audi’s distinctive SUV design with consistently further developed e-tron-specific design language. The Audi Q6L e-tron differs from the global version, and this becomes apparent from the start. Above all, the redesigned front end, with an evolution of the Audi brand face, sets its own accents for the China-specific version.

Audi Q8 TFSI e quattro – Plug-in hybrid technology – Animation

AutoMotions

This technical animation shows the function of the plug-in hybrid drive of the new Audi Q8 TFSI e quattro. At the heart of the plug-in hybrid is a three-liter six-cylinder Otto engine with 250 kW (340 PS) of output, a compact electric motor (PSM) with a maximum output of 130 kW and 460 Nm of torque, and a new, more powerful, liquid-cooled lithium battery located under the floor of the trunk.

Lamborghini Urus SE Powertrain Preview

AutoMotions

The Urus SE offers an unparalleled driving experience also thanks to the plug-in hybrid system, which helps to improve the vehicle’s performance and dynamics on any surface and in any condition: more torque and power at any rpm is provided by way of innovative technical solutions such as the introduction of the electric torque vectoring system between the two axles, and the electronic rear differential. The twin-turbo 4.0 V8 engine has been re-engineered to work in optimal synergy with the electric powertrain. It develops 620 CV of power (456 kW) and 800 Nm of driving torque; the combustion unit is combined with an electric powertrain delivering 192 CV (141 kW) and 483 Nm of torque. In delivering maximum output the main focus has been on the calibration strategy between ICE and e-motor, reaching a total output of 800 CV to ensure an optimal power curve in every driving mode and on every surface. A 25.9-kWh lithium-ion battery is situated below the load floor and above the electronically-controlled rear differential. The permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor located inside the 8-speed automatic transmission can act as a boost for the V8 combustion engine but also as a traction element, making the Urus SE a 100% electric 4WD vehicle capable of traveling more than 60 km in EV mode. Debuting on the Urus SE is the new centrally-located longitudinal electric torque vectoring system with an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch, which distributes driving torque variably and continuously between the front and rear axles. The transfer case works in synergy with the new electronic limited-slip differential installed on the rear axle, giving the vehicle “on demand” oversteering to convey the feel of a purebred super sports car.

The new Porsche Macan Turbo Design Preview in Racing Green
